Crime: Suspect Held for Armed Robbery and Assault in Allen Town

Sahr Lebbie has been remanded in custody after facing charges of armed robbery, wounding, and assault stemming from an incident that occurred in Allen Town on July 4, 2025. His arraignment took place at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 in Freetown before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah.

Lebbie is charged with four offenses, including robbery with aggravation, wounding, and assault, in violation of Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916 and Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861. According to police reports, on the day of the incident, Lebbie allegedly confronted Ansu Sandi at Temne Town, armed with a knife, and stole several rolls of electrical cable valued at six thousand Leones. The cables, originally belonging to Amara Coker, were in Sandi's possession at the time.

During the proceedings, Ansu Sandi, the first prosecution witness and an office assistant at the National Revenue Authority (NRA), testified that he recognized Lebbie. He recounted hearing unusual noises from the unfinished building where he lived and, upon investigating, was attacked and stabbed multiple times by Lebbie, resulting in serious injuries. Sandi described his struggle to restrain Lebbie, ultimately calling for help from a neighbor, Foday, who transported him to Connaught Hospital. Foday also documented Sandi's injuries with photographs, which were submitted as evidence.

After receiving initial treatment, Sandi and Foday proceeded to the Allen Town Police Station, where Sandi was issued a medical form and later took it to Rokupa Hospital before returning it to the police. The case was subsequently transferred to the Ross Road Police Station for further investigation.

In cross-examination, Lebbie, who did not have legal representation, claimed that Sandi was the initial aggressor. Sandi vehemently denied this accusation, asserting that he was alone at home during the alleged events.

Magistrate Jah ordered Lebbie to be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre, with the case adjourned to July 30, 2025, for further hearings. Prosecutor Kadie M. Taylor is overseeing the case.
