The Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation will be conducting a Health Fair during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Fair will be held on October 20th at Zion Hall on Wesley Street, beginning at 9am. In partnership with other healthcare professionals, the Fair will provide a one-stop opportunity for testing for common illnesses that are often expensive and time-consuming to check for during regular medical or hospital visits.
During the Fair, visitors will be able to have their breasts screened, blood pressure and blood sugar levels checked, and undergo eye exams, hepatitis tests, and malaria/typhoid tests. If any screenings are inconclusive, a more thorough exam can be conducted at a nearby lab at a reduced cost.
The Foundation will also be holding a wellness cycling marathon, in partnership with the national cycling body, on October 28th. The marathon will start at Songo for riders and at Pademba Road for pedestrians and joggers.
The Foundation, which is currently engaging communities on the risks of delaying testing and the importance of peer-to-peer awareness raising, is using this month to increase the visibility of its work and encourage partnerships for improved health, especially in the area of cancer.
We hope to see you there!
