Three men have been remanded in correctional custody following their arraignment on serious criminal charges, including wounding and assault.

The defendants, identified as thirty-year-old Abass Sesay, nineteen-year-old Abdulai Sesay, and seventeen-year-old Foday Kamara, appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.

They face a five-count indictment: wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, malicious damage, throwing missiles (contrary to Section 6 of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965), and carrying offensive weapons without lawful authority or reasonable excuse (in violation of Section 16(1) of the same Act).

The particulars of the offense allege that on October 14, 2025, in Koya Town, Wellington, Western Area, Freetown, the defendants maliciously wounded the complainant, Abdul Fattah Kamara.

The charges further state that the defendants assaulted Mr. Kamara, resulting in actual bodily harm, and maliciously damaged his property. The damaged items include a Toyota Camry with registration number AQF 181, specifically its windscreen, valued at Leones 3,500, and other items totaling Leones 10,750.

The accused are also charged with throwing stones and bottles at Mr. Kamara’s residence and possessing offensive weapons without legal justification.

The defendants were not required to enter a plea as the matter is currently at the stage of a preliminary investigation.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh led the prosecution. Witness testimony was provided by Fatmata Samuel, a pastor and the complainant’s sister.

She testified that she recognized the defendants when they entered her compound. She described how stones and bottles were hurled at her house around midnight, causing damage and distress, prompting her to call her daughter, Naffie, for assistance. A police response team subsequently arrived, apprehended the defendants, and recovered knives found in their possession. These weapons were later transferred to the Kissy Police Station.

During cross-examination, defense counsel M.A. Kamara renewed and adopted prior bail applications for all three defendants. However, Magistrate Fornah denied bail, citing the serious nature of the charges. The case has been adjourned to December 1, 2025, for continuation.

The defendants remain in custody pending the next court hearing.
