Truth Media Condemns Threats, Stands Firm Behind Co-Founder Amadu Lamrana Bah

Truth Media has strongly condemned threats made against one of its journalists, Amadu Lamrana Bah, during a Facebook Live session by Admire Bio and her husband, Dauda Jalloh, who was reportedly heard in the background issuing violent remarks.

According to a statement released by the institution, the video contained disturbing threats, including an explicit claim that the journalist would be “beaten” upon the speaker’s return to town. Truth Media described the threats as a serious attack on press freedom, journalist safety, and the principles of public accountability in Sierra Leone.

“Such statements are deeply troubling and constitute a serious threat not only to the safety and well-being of our colleague and his family, but also to the principles of press freedom and public accountability,” the statement read.

The media institution emphasized its constitutional duty to protect its staff and uphold freedom of expression and of the press, as enshrined in Section 25 of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone.

Truth Media confirmed that the matter has been reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for a formal investigation and urged law enforcement agencies to take swift and decisive action to ensure the safety of Mr. Bah, his family, and all journalists who continue to serve the public with dedication.

“We call on the relevant authorities to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our journalist, his family, and all media professionals who continue to serve the public in good faith,” the statement urged.

The organization also called on members of the public to refrain from acts of intimidation and harassment against journalists, noting that such conduct undermines democracy and threatens the free flow of information.

Truth Media extended appreciation to the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) for its quick response, solidarity, and continued advocacy for journalist safety across the country.

“Their support reinforces the collective responsibility of the media fraternity to stand together against threats and intimidation and to defend the fundamental right to free and independent journalism,” the statement added.

The institution further thanked friends, colleagues, and well-wishers who have expressed solidarity with Amadu Lamrana Bah and his family during this challenging period, describing the public outpouring of support as “a source of strength and reassurance.”

Truth Media reaffirmed its commitment to responsible journalism, factual reporting, and respect for human dignity, vowing to continue its work without fear or favour.

“This outpouring of support reaffirms our shared commitment to protecting press freedom, justice, and the safety of those who serve the public interest through responsible journalism,” the statement concluded.
