Tunkia Paramount Chieftaincy Election Proceeds With Heavy Security Deployment

Tunkia Chiefdom in Kenema District heads to the polls on Tuesday December 9, 2025, to elect its new Paramount Chief, with security agencies fully deployed to ensure a peaceful, credible, and orderly process.

Ahead of the polls, the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Kenema Police Division has spearheaded a comprehensive security operation at the KDC Primary School Field, the official election venue. The LUC is leading strategic deployments both within and around the voting grounds, reinforcing confidence among residents and stakeholders.

His responsibilities include overseeing operational planning, designing security strategies, and determining personnel deployment as well as patrol routes and crowd-management structures. The LUC is also ensuring adequate distribution of manpower, vehicles, communication equipment, and other essential logistics to support the operation.

As part of the preparation, he has provided detailed operational briefings to officers, assigned roles, and emphasized adherence to the rules of engagement. Security teams have been positioned to maintain public order, prevent disruptions, and respond promptly to any emerging threat. Intelligence coordination is being closely supervised, with continuous risk assessments guiding real-time adjustments in deployment. Rapid-response units remain on standby.

In fostering a peaceful atmosphere, the LUC has engaged community stakeholders, including local leaders, youth groups, election officials, and observers, to promote cooperation and reduce potential tensions. He also oversees incident reporting to ensure that all developments on the ground are accurately documented and relayed to higher command.

Adding to the robust security presence, the Regional Police Commander East, AIG Francis Brima Meinday, is on the ground providing overall supervision, strategic guidance, and broader coordination to strengthen the security framework.

As of this report, Tunkia Chiefdom remains calm, with no major incidents recorded. Security officers continue to maintain vigilant oversight as the Paramount Chieftaincy election progresses.
