Two Men Granted Bail in Aberdeen Assault and Disorder Case

Two 23-year-old men facing multiple charges including assault and disorderly conduct have been granted bail following an incident in the Aberdeen neighborhood of Freetown.

The defendants, Ibrahim Musa and Alhassan Baggie, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1. Both men entered not guilty pleas to all five counts read against them.

The charges comprise conspiracy to commit a felony, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, wounding with intent, riotous conduct, and disorderly behavior. The prosecution alleges that Musa and Baggie conspired with unidentified accomplices during an altercation on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Last Banking, Aberdeen, where victim Alhassan Gbenbo was allegedly assaulted and injured.

During court proceedings, Prosecutor Inspector Kadie Taylor requested a short adjournment due to the absence of the state’s key witness. Defense counsel M. Conteh, representing both defendants, submitted an application for bail under Section 76(1)(c) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2024.

Magistrate Jah set bail at NLe 50,000 for each defendant, requiring one surety in the same amount per individual. Under the terms of the bail condition, sureties must be Sierra Leonean citizens residing within the Freetown jurisdiction, provide valid identification, and receive final approval from the Deputy Assistant Registrar.

The court noted that granting bail allows the accused individuals to remain at liberty pending trial and does not constitute a finding on their guilt or innocence. The matter has been adjourned for further hearing.
