Sierra Leone’s U-15 national team has successfully completed its third Football Education Learning Session in Baku, focusing on the critical role of mental toughness in athletic development.

Former Arsenal and Switzerland defender Philippe Senderos led the session. Senderos, who serves as a High Performance and Talent Development Specialist within FIFA’s Global Football Development Division, offered key insights to the young Leone Stars on building resilience both on and off the pitch.

During the session, Senderos shared valuable insights with the young Leone Stars on the importance of mental strength in football, highlighting how it contributes to their growth both on and off the pitch.

The interactive workshop allowed players to explore the psychological aspects of elite sports and understand the key character traits required to advance their professional careers.

This educational initiative is part of Sierra Leone’s broader participation in the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival, designed to combine high-level tournament competition with personal and athletic growth.
