Youth Remanded for Cocaine Possession and Trafficking at Freetown Airport

Sharod Mweemba has been remanded at the male correctional facility in Freetown by Justice Adrian Fisher on four counts related to drug offences.
The charges include unlawful possession of drugs, transporting a prohibited drug, collecting a prohibited drug, and dealing in a prohibited drug, all contrary to sections 8(a), 7(b), and 7(c) of the National Drugs Control Act 2008, Act No.10 of 2008.
The particulars of the offence state that on 24th June 2026, at Freetown International Airport Lungi, Port Loko District, the defendant was found in possession of two small and one big pellet of cocaine hydrochloride, weighing a total of 1.9 kilograms, without lawful authority.
Additionally, it is alleged that on the same date and at the same location, the defendant transported cocaine from Freetown to Freetown International Airport Lungi, again without lawful authority.
Further reports indicate that at a guesthouse in Freetown, the defendant collected a prohibited drug called cocaine. Lastly, it is charged that the defendant was found dealing in cocaine at the same location and date, again without lawful authority.
When the charges were read and explained to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
The state prosecutor, Musa Pious Sesay Esq. Jr., requested a short adjournment date. The defendant was not legally represented.
Justice Fisher refused bail and remanded the defendant to the male correctional facility in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to the 2nd of September, 2026.
