A 28-year-old motorbike rider, Mohamed Kargbo, was remanded in custody today after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No.1 on three counts of armed robbery.
The charges, filed under Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916—as amended by the 2022 Abolition of Death Penalty Act—allege that Kargbo used a machete and a knife to rob three individuals at Hill Station, Freetown, on May 10, 2026.
According to court records, the victims include Prince Benjamin, who reported the theft of a Le20,000 iPhone 12; Melrose Emily Momoh, from whom a Le30,000 iPhone 16 Pro Max was allegedly taken; and Albert Jerome Momoh, who reported the loss of Le10,000. Kargbo did not enter a plea during the preliminary hearing.
Chief Superintendent of Police Tommy B. Zizer, Esq., confirmed that witness statements were served to the defense. Citing the severity of the alleged offense, Magistrate Jah denied bail and adjourned the proceedings to June 10, 2026.
