54-Month Sentence for Conspiracy and Larceny Convictions

Magistrate Wilbri Hamida M. John of Magistrate Court No. 2 in Kenema has sentenced two defendants, Dauda Saidu Kennie (35) and Joseph Turay (27), both of Teyama Village in the Kenema Judicial District, to a total of fifty-four (54) months' imprisonment for conspiracy and larceny.


The two convicts were found to have conspired with unknown persons to commit larceny on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Teyama Village, Dodo Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District, Eastern Province of Sierra Leone, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916. On the same date and at the same location, both individuals stole a quantity of cocoa pods valued at Three Hundred New Leones (NLe 300.00), the property of Moriba Abibu.



After pleading guilty and requesting leniency, Magistrate Hamida sentenced them to fifty-four (54) months' imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema, with twenty-four (24) months for Count One (Conspiracy) and thirty (30) months for Count Two (Larceny).


In a separate matter before Magistrate Hamida M. John, Francis Musa, a school pupil residing at Dauda Town Section in Kenema, was arraigned and convicted of larceny. The convict stole a quantity of yams valued at Five Thousand New Leones (NLe 5,000.00), the property of Alice Kamara, on September 9, 2025, at Dauda Town Section in Kenema.




He pleaded guilty and sought mercy, receiving a sentence of twenty-four (24) months' imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema.


Police Inspector Aiah Mafinda Teh, attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Station, prosecuted all matters.
