His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone officially laid the foundation block for the Julius Maada Bio Postgraduate School at Baze University in Abuja, Nigeria. The ceremony took place on Friday, November 8, following his delivery of the commencement address at the university’s 12th Convocation.
The new postgraduate institution, named in his honor, is designed to offer advanced learning opportunities that adhere to international benchmarks. This initiative underscores President Bio’s steadfast commitment to expanding access to high-quality education and reflects his broader vision for the transformation of Africa through human capital development.
In a statement released after the event, President Bio expressed profound gratitude to the Baze University leadership for the recognition, noting that the occasion further galvanized his dedication to fostering human capital across the continent.
During his visit to Nigeria, President Bio also held a constructive meeting with His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Their discussions focused on enhancing bilateral and regional cooperation, including forging a coalition to address terrorism across West Africa and promoting deeper regional integration.
The Julius Maada Bio Postgraduate School is anticipated to become a premier center for higher studies and research, attracting a diverse cohort of students from Africa and globally.
