65-Year-Old Contractor Charged With Incitement Appears in Court

A 65-year-old contractor, Brima Conteh, popularly known as Mumbaza, has been brought before the court on allegations of incitement.
Conteh made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown.
According to the charge sheet, between an unknown date from June 1 to June 30, 2025, in Magburaka in the North-East Region, Conteh allegedly made statements intended to incite unrest and undermine peace and security in the country.
Prosecutors claim he made several provocative remarks, including:
"Na just two diplomats den day way na civilians den. All the rest na ex military man den from America including colonel, major, lieutenant colonel na dem cam now for pull dat name pan you body president leh ihn nor call ihn self president because Samura nor gee porsin date. Samura assure the mammie say there is an heavy push on Maada now diplomacy don don again but den instruction now den nor trust am again na him make dem cam tell am straight forward dis date if e pass we day cam wit force. Samura nor day cam waste time as e take over less than a year una go see all thing day cam inside, that na watin a get na ihn a day gee una."
When the charge was read and explained, the defendant did not enter a plea, as the matter is at the preliminary investigation stage.
The prosecutor, Inspector Mabel M. Tarawally, informed the court that the defense had been served with all relevant documents for review.
Conteh is represented by S. I. Kamara Esq. and J. B. Sesay Esq. The matter was adjourned to December 8, 2025.
