Francis Ben Kaifala, Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), has dismissed claims that the commission selectively targets individuals, insisting that it does not shield those in high positions from investigation and operates with fairness and impartiality.
Speaking on Radio Democracy 98.1 FM, Kaifala addressed public concerns suggesting that political influence might sway the ACC’s actions, calling such allegations untrue. He emphasized that the commission conducts its work based on fairness, discipline, and accountability to the people of Sierra Leone.
Kaifala highlighted that the ACC operates independently of political pressures and that all investigations follow established legal procedures. He stressed the commission’s responsibility to maintain public confidence in its operations.
The commissioner’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about corruption, governance, and institutional transparency, with concerns about preferential treatment for high-ranking officials frequently raised by media and civil society.
Kaifala reiterated that the ACC’s work is guided by both legal and ethical standards, aiming to strengthen public trust in governance and uphold the rule of law across all sectors of society.
