ACC Indicts Two Koidu Government Hospital Staff for Misappropriation of Free Health Care Medical Supplies

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced the indictment of Christian Benjamin Karjue, Head Store Keeper at the Koidu Government Hospital, and Ibrahim Janneh, a Cleaner at the same hospital, for allegedly misappropriating medical supplies intended for the Free Health Care Programme.
According to the ACC, the indictment was filed at the High Court of Sierra Leone, Holden at Kono. The two accused are charged with one count of Conspiracy to Commit a Corruption Offence, contrary to Section 128 (1), and one count of Misappropriation of Public Property, contrary to Section 36 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008 as amended by the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019.
Court documents indicate that between 10th and 18th April 2025, in Koidu, Karjue and Janneh, together with other unknown persons, allegedly conspired to willfully misappropriate thirteen (13) cartons of assorted medical supplies meant for the Free Health Care Programme at the Koidu Government Hospital.
The alleged act undermines government efforts to ensure free and quality medical services for vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under five years old.
In its statement, the ACC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting public resources and ensuring that individuals entrusted with state property are held accountable for any acts of corruption.
