Accountant Remanded Over Alleged Theft of Fuel Card Worth Le157,860

An accountant, Alhaji Seray Bah, has been remanded in custody following his first court appearance on allegations of theft involving a fuel card belonging to the Sierra Leone Minerals Corporation.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Tuesday, 31st March 2026, facing a charge of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, between May 2025 and March 2026, at No. 4 Dream Atlantic Villa Garden, Lumley Beach Road in the Western Area of Freetown, Bah allegedly stole a fuel conex card belonging to the Sierra Leone Mines and Minerals Development and Management Corporation.
The prosecution further stated that the said fuel card, bearing code number 020693, contained a total value of One Hundred and Fifty-Seven Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Leones (Le157,860).
When the charge was read and explained to him in court, the accused pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor, Inspector Mabel M. Tarawalie, Esq., presented and served the accused with a bundle of his statements as part of the prosecution’s evidence.
Magistrate Jah, citing the seriousness of the offence, refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded in custody. The matter was adjourned to 2nd April 2026 for further hearing.
