Accused Granted Le100,000 Bail in High-Profile Larceny Case

Mohamed Kamara, accused of larceny, was today granted Le100,000 bail by Magistrate Adama Kandeh at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 4. Kamara faces charges under Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

Police allege that on August 7, 2025, Kamara committed theft in New England Ville, Western Freetown. The stolen items reportedly include ninety cement blocks, valued at Le30 each, totaling Le2,700. Further allegations detail the theft of two pistons (Le1,000), a carpet (Le300), and a bearing (Le400), bringing the total alleged value of stolen property belonging to Mohamed Kantay to Le4,400.

Prosecuting the case was A. I. Bangura. Magistrate Kandeh ordered Kamara's release on bail, requiring two credible sureties. Each surety must present a recent National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) identification card, be employed, and reside within Freetown. The bail approval also necessitates confirmation by the Master and Registrar of the High Court of Sierra Leone.

The case has been adjourned to October 17, 2025, for further proceedings and investigation.
