A man charged with the unlawful possession and unauthorized use of military and police uniforms has been remanded in custody following his initial appearance at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court in Freetown.
The defendant, David Seppeh, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at the Pademba Road Court No.1 to face a three-count charge related to the unauthorized possession and use of state security uniforms.
Seppeh stands charged with the unlawful possession of military uniforms, in violation of Section 4 of the Personation and Uniform Act (CAP 34) of the Laws of Sierra Leone 1960, as amended by the Personation and Uniform (Amendment) Act No. 13 of 1975. Furthermore, he is accused of using military and police uniforms without lawful authority, contrary to Section 8(1)(a) of the Treason and State Offences Act No. 10 of 1963 (as amended).
The indictment alleges that on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in the I.D.A. area of Kenema, Eastern Region of Sierra Leone, the accused unlawfully possessed and used military uniforms. It is also alleged that on the same date and at the same location, he used police uniforms without proper authorization.
Given that the proceedings were a preliminary investigation, the defendant did not enter a formal plea after the charges were read and explained to him.
The matter was adjourned to November 18, 2025, for a further hearing due to the absence of a prosecution witness.
In light of the gravity of the offences, Magistrate Jah ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre. Sergeant Lahai M. is leading the prosecution.
