Sierra Leonean singer and politician Natasha Beckley has announced that she will not be hosting or performing at any shows or public events this December festive season.
In a statement shared on her social media, Beckley thanked her partners and supporters but confirmed that she would be taking a break from this year’s celebrations.
“Over the years, I have had the pleasure of hosting some of the nation’s most celebrated festivals. I regret to announce that this December I will not participate or host any events,” she wrote, adding that there are “talented hosts ready to work.”
The post did not provide a reason for her withdrawal. However, the announcement follows weeks of speculation surrounding her ongoing encounter with law enforcement over alleged involvement in drug-related activities.
Earlier this year, police reportedly linked the artist to a property in Freetown where substances suspected to be connected to the production of “Kush” were discovered. Beckley has consistently denied any wrongdoing, describing the allegations as unfounded and malicious. She was briefly detained for questioning and later released on bail pending further investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether formal charges will be filed.
Beckley’s decision has drawn mixed reactions among fans and fellow entertainers. Some expressed disappointment that she will not be part of the festive calendar, while others praised her choice to step back and focus on resolving her legal matters.
As one of Sierra Leone’s leading female voices, Natasha Beckley’s temporary hiatus marks a pause in a vibrant career defined by bold performances, social advocacy, political engagement, and a growing international following. Her influence on the country’s entertainment landscape remains significant, and her absence this December is expected to be keenly felt across the festive circuit.
