A defendant, John Borbor Jimmy, has been remanded in custody after his second appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.
He is facing a single count of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, in connection with an alleged theft incident reported at Aberdeen Beach.
During proceedings, the prosecution called its first witness, Prince Oscar, a businessman, who gave detailed testimony surrounding events that allegedly occurred on March 25, 2026.
Mr. Oscar told the court that between 23:00 and 23:30, he arrived at the New York Pizza car park along Aberdeen Beach Road, where he was directed to a parking space by the defendant and two other individuals.
He further testified that after exiting his vehicle, the defendant approached him and offered to wash the car, an offer he accepted. The witness stated that he then entered the establishment and remained inside for about 45 minutes.
Upon returning to his vehicle, Mr. Oscar told the court he noticed the defendant and three other individuals seated nearby. He later discovered that the rear door glass of his vehicle had been lowered.
The witness reported that a backpack had been removed from the vehicle, containing a Dell laptop and charger, two smartphone chargers, a Cherokee Jeep key, corporate receipts, clothing items, and personal hygiene materials.
Following the discovery, Mr. Oscar said he immediately questioned the defendant before reporting the incident to the Aberdeen Operational Support Division (OSD) office. Police officers later apprehended the defendant along with other suspects, who were subsequently taken to the Golf Police Post for formal statements.
Magistrate Fornah ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
The matter has been adjourned to allow the defense to conduct cross-examination of the prosecution witness.
The case is scheduled to resume on May 26, 2026 at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.
