The Association of Music Producers & Engineers - Sierra Leone (AMPE SL) has formally initiated an internal inquiry into the intellectual property dispute surrounding the track “Money Necessary,” a matter that has recently garnered considerable attention across social media platforms within the national music sector.
In an official public release dated March 11, 2026, the association confirmed its involvement, noting that the case concerns the professional conduct of one of its registered members, Producer LWhyte, alongside artists Sweeter Boy and Legacy Boy.
The core issue stems from online concerns alleging that the master recording for "Money Necessary" was initially produced in association with Sweeter Boy before subsequently being recorded by Legacy Boy. This high-profile contention has prompted the professional body to commence a rigorous, official review to factually determine the circumstances.
AMPE SL asserts that the principal objective of this investigation is to definitively clarify the conditions pertaining to the production and rightful ownership of the composition. The association firmly reiterates its unwavering commitment to upholding professional ethics, ensuring equitable practices, and diligently protecting the intellectual and creative rights of all stakeholders within Sierra Leone’s dynamic music industry.
The governing body formally requests all involved parties and the public to exercise restraint and maintain decorum throughout the pendency of the assessment process.
Upon the conclusion of its comprehensive assessment, AMPE SL will issue a final communication detailing its findings and outlining any corrective actions deemed necessary, strictly aligning with its established professional standards and the greater interests of the industry.
