Richard Conteh, a flagbearer aspirant for the All People's Congress (APC), has articulated a strong belief in the party's success in the 2028 general elections. He emphasized that the APC has assimilated critical lessons from past electoral cycles and is actively implementing corrective strategies.
During an appearance on AYV’s Wake Up Sierra Leone programme, Conteh stated that the APC is strategically repositioning itself with a singular focus on achieving victory in the forthcoming elections. "It is either we win or we win. No other options," he asserted, signaling a resolute commitment to success.
Conteh also raised significant reservations regarding the impartiality of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), noting that the APC lacks confidence in its current composition. He underscored that this position has been consistently maintained by the party, including during its participation in the tripartite framework discussions.
The APC aspirant confirmed that the party has formally advocated for substantial reforms within the electoral management body, arguing that restoring public trust in the electoral process is paramount for conducting free, fair, and credible elections.
These comments contribute to the ongoing national discourse concerning electoral reforms and preparations for the 2028 polls, as political entities increasingly define their stances on issues of governance, institutional integrity, and democratic principles.
