The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has issued a stern warning to the All People’s Congress (APC) regarding its potential suspension from political activities. This follows the expiration of the deadline for the APC to pay an outstanding fine of Le350 million.
Speaking on Liberty Online TV, PPRC Executive Secretary Olusegun David stated that the seven-day period allotted for the party to make the payment concludes tomorrow.
Mr. David explained that failure to adhere to the payment terms would necessitate the Commission invoking Section 39(2)(c) of the Political Parties Regulation Act. This provision outlines sanctions, which include the suspension of a political party.
According to David, the APC has until Tuesday to settle the Le350 million as stipulated in the formal agreement signed with the Commission.
The Commission emphasizes that all registered political parties are mandated to comply with its directives and fulfill agreed obligations within the established timeframes.
