The Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL) has formally clarified a figure mentioned in its recent publication, "Performance Audit Report on Government Effort in Achieving Food Sufficiency by 2023 and the Impact of Climate Change on Agriculture." The report initially stated that $800 million was "spent on the development of the National Agricultural Transformation Strategy (2019-2023)."
The ASSL explained that the $800 million figure represents the cost of the plan's implementation rather than the actual expenditure incurred during the reporting period. This clarification is based on updated information and subsequent discussions with relevant stakeholders.
They emphasized the critical importance of timely and adequate responses from audited entities to draft audit reports before finalization, to ensure accuracy and fairness.
The Audit Service Sierra Leone urged all audited entities to:
Review draft reports upon receipt, provide complete and accurate responses within the stipulated timeline, and submit all relevant documentation to support their positions.
These actions, they assert, will ensure that the final audit report presents a balanced and factual account of findings and recommendations.
