Bai Bureh Warriors Edge Star Sport Academy to Go Third

Sanpha Kamara’s first-half strike secured a 1–0 victory for Bai Bureh Warriors over title challengers Star Sport Academy at the Port Loko Field on Sunday, 24th May, temporarily lifting the Warriors to third place in the Leone Rock Premier League table.

The high-intensity encounter was played in front of a lively home crowd, with both sides showing quality and determination throughout the match. Bai Bureh Warriors started brightly and controlled large portions of the game with confident and purposeful passing.

The decisive moment came following a brilliant individual run by Koliko P. Haba, wearing jersey number 21, who dribbled past the Star Sport Academy defence before squaring the ball to Sanpha Kamara. Kamara finished first time with a low strike past the goalkeeper to give the hosts the lead.

Star Sport Academy’s challenge became more difficult just before halftime when captain James Kai Yamba, wearing number 30, received a second yellow card and was sent off, reducing his side to 10 men.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Star Sport Academy reorganised and showed improved composure after the break, enjoying spells of possession and creating several scoring opportunities.

However, Bai Bureh Warriors’ goalkeeper delivered a standout performance, producing a series of important saves to preserve the lead. The visitors’ best chance fell to Yali Suma, whose powerful long-range effort was tipped away by the Warriors’ shot-stopper.

Star Sport Academy continued to push until the final whistle but were unable to find an equaliser as the home side held firm defensively.

The result strengthens Bai Bureh Warriors’ push for a top-three finish in the Leone Rock Premier League.
