The new Sierra Leone Premier League (SPL) season has kicked off with a bang, and the biggest story so far is the stunning form of Bai Bureh Warriors.
The Port Loko-based side has amassed 13 points from five matches, setting a ferocious pace at the top of the league standings.
While the Warriors shine at the summit, former champions Diamond Stars remain trapped at the bottom, struggling to replicate last season’s winning mentality. The immediate challenge for the Makeni-based club is climbing out of the relegation zone, with pressure mounting on Coach Mohamed Lamin to turn results around.
Trailing closely behind the Warriors, two clubs are staking their claims for the title:
FC Kallon: The Freetown giants remain unbeaten, collecting 12 points from five matches. Just a single win away from the top spot, Kallon holds a slight edge in goal difference over the Warriors, keeping the race for the summit alive.
Wilberforce Strikers: Sitting in third place with 9 points, the Strikers have enjoyed an encouraging start. Despite some inconsistency, their three victories demonstrate the capacity to challenge any team in the league.
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Bai Bureh Warriors to see if they can maintain their early momentum, while FC Kallon and Wilberforce Strikers prepare to close the gap in a thrilling title race.
