Bio Supports 1,000 Makeni Entrepreneurs Through PSSNYE Cash Grants

President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has symbolically presented cheques to entrepreneurs in Makeni under the Productive Social Safety Nets and Youth Employment (PSSNYE) project, implemented by the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA).

The initiative aims to support youth and small business owners through financial assistance designed to strengthen livelihoods, promote entrepreneurship, and reduce poverty through economic empowerment.

The presentation took place during the Presidential Town Hall 2026 Makeni edition, where the President engaged citizens on government development programmes and social interventions.

The project targets 1,000 entrepreneurs in Makeni, with each beneficiary receiving approximately $300 to support and expand their small businesses.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Bio emphasised the importance of empowering young people with practical support to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.

“This is empowerment in action,” he said, highlighting government efforts to deliver direct economic support to citizens at community level.

Officials stated that the PSSNYE programme is designed to strengthen social protection systems, create employment opportunities, and improve the resilience of vulnerable groups across the country.

The Makeni presentation forms part of wider national efforts to expand economic opportunities for young people through targeted social investment and empowerment programmes.
