The High Court in Kenema, presided over by the Honourable Justice Abdul Sheriff, sentenced Ishmeal Father Touray, a Bissau-Guinean entrepreneur residing at No. 5 Orange Pole, Sokudu Newsite, Koidu City, to fifteen (15) years imprisonment on December 16, 2025, following a conviction for murder.

The convict, Ishmeal Father Touray, was charged with murder contrary to Section 1 of the Offences against the Persons Act 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1 of the Schedule to the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2022.

According to the indictment details, Ishmeal Father Touray murdered Ansumana Lamin on June 10, 2025, between Lowoma village and Borbu village in the Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District, Eastern Province of Sierra Leone.

After considering the defendant's guilty plea and the subsequent plea in mitigation presented by the Defence Counsel, requesting the court to temper justice with mercy, Justice Sheriff handed down the 15-year custodial sentence. Touray will serve his term at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema.

The matter was successfully prosecuted by Andrew. F. Kamara, State Counsel and Customary Law Officer for Kenema District.
