Bo Thug Remanded in Custody for Alleged Unlawful Drug Possession

Didi Maxwell appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 in Freetown to face a three-count charge of unlawful possession of and dealing in prohibited drugs, contravening Sections 8(a) and 7(c) of the National Drug Control Act, 2008 (Act No. 10 of 2008).


The particulars of the offence state that on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at No. 58 Robert Street, Bo, Mr. Maxwell was allegedly found in unauthorized possession of 148 wraps and one sachet of Kush. Furthermore, on the same date and at the same location, he was also reportedly found in possession of half a compressed parcel of cannabis sativa and accused of dealing in prohibited drugs without proper authorization.




The defendant did not enter a plea, as the matter is before the court for a preliminary investigation.


State Prosecutor A.B.N. Taylor Kamara informed the court that the prosecution had fulfilled the requirements of Section 112(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965, confirming that all necessary documents, including the charge sheet and witness statements, had been duly served to the defence.



Defence counsel requested a brief adjournment to prepare and submit a formal application for the accused's bail.


Magistrate Jah subsequently ordered that Mr. Maxwell be remanded at the Male Correctional Center and adjourned the case to October 27, 2025, for further hearing.
