Hassan Kamara, a 45-year-old businessman, was remanded into custody on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, following his appearance before Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh. He is charged with obtaining money by false pretenses, in violation of Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The details of the offense allege that between 2023 and 2024, at the Central Mosque in Lumley, Western Area, Freetown, Mr. Kamara allegedly obtained seventy-four thousand Leones (74,000) from Mohamed Mansaray by falsely claiming he had land for sale, a statement he knew to be false.

No plea was entered upon the reading and explanation of the charge to the accused.

Prosecuting Sergeant Francess Lamin, 3001, requested a brief adjournment to prepare for the presentation of her next prosecution witness.

Magistrate Gbloh denied bail and ordered Mr. Kamara's remand to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case is adjourned until July 8, 2025.
