CCTV Exposes Man Over Alleged US$20,000 Theft at Lands Ministry

Officials at Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Lands have handed over Mohamed Ansumana M. Dabeni to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following allegations that he stole more than US$20,000 from an Egyptian national at the Ministry’s reception area in Freetown.
According to reports, security personnel reviewed CCTV footage from the Ministry’s main lobby, which allegedly captured Dabeni taking a bag containing a substantial amount of cash.
Following his identification from the footage, law enforcement authorities reportedly located and apprehended Dabeni.
Police reports further indicate that the suspect subsequently confessed to the alleged theft while in custody.
Dabeni remains in police detention as CID officers continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation is expected to establish the full details of the alleged theft and determine the appropriate legal action.
