Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has issued a comprehensive reflection on 2025, declaring it a year of substantial, measurable progress for Sierra Leone, a success he attributes directly to the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio. Dr. Sengeh’s assessment, shared in a detailed public post, underscored achievements across multiple sectors, including the economy, health, public safety, and infrastructure, while signaling ambitious plans for 2026.
Economically, the Chief Minister cited significant gains, including a 50 percent minimum wage increase, a 30 percent reduction in the price of rice, and the stabilization of the foreign exchange market, which contributed to inflation reaching a twenty-year low. In public services, he highlighted a reduction in maternal and infant mortality, the rehabilitation of over 600 youth, and enhanced border security.
Further progress was noted in development, with new infrastructure projects, innovative financing models supporting national investment, and a flourishing cultural scene attracting international artists. Education also saw strides, with over 200,000 students successfully transitioning from secondary school.
Concluding his statement, Dr. Sengeh reaffirmed the administration’s commitment, promising that "2026 will be better," reinforcing the government’s narrative of continuous, impactful policy execution.
