Chief Minister Reaffirms Sierra Leone’s Vision to Become a Middle-Income Country by 2039

Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh has reiterated the Government’s long-term development vision for Sierra Leone to become an inclusive, middle-income country by 2039.

In a recent social media post, accompanied by the hashtag #WeWillDeliver, Dr. Sengeh highlighted the collective national goal of delivering sustainable progress for all Sierra Leoneans.

The vision aligns with Sierra Leone’s Medium-Term National Development Plan and other strategic documents that aim to achieve an inclusive and green middle-income economy by 2039. Dr. Sengeh has previously expressed confidence that the country is positioned for steady advancement through investment, policy reforms, and strategic engagement, most notably in forums held in October 2025.

The 2039 development goal has sparked discussion among citizens and commentators. Some observers note that achieving the target will require immediate and tangible measures to address pressing economic challenges, including rising prices of essential commodities, unemployment, and declining purchasing power.

Supporters of the vision argue that a clearly defined long-term goal helps guide policy and investment priorities, while Dr. Sengeh’s repeated emphasis on the 2039 objective contributes to ongoing dialogue about balancing immediate challenges with long-term national aspirations.
