The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone presented two new utility vehicles to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on October 17, 2025. The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry's headquarters in Freetown.
The donation is intended to enhance the Ministry's operational capacity and day-to-day functions. China stated that the vehicles represent a continuation of its robust support for Sierra Leonean institutions and its dedication to bolstering the country's diplomatic efforts.
Foreign Minister Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba accepted the vehicles, expressing his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy. He characterized the donation as a testament to the enduring 54-year friendship between the two nations, affirming Sierra Leone's readiness to sustain close cooperation with China on both domestic and international issues of mutual benefit.
Minister Kabba also underscored the historical depth of China's commitment to Sierra Leone. He highlighted landmark projects like the National Stadium and the Youyi Building, in addition to crucial aid provided during the Ebola and COVID-19 epidemics. He noted that the partnership has expanded into new spheres, including education, science, defense, and trade.
The event concluded with a mutual pledge to continue strengthening bilateral ties, as Sierra Leone extended its thanks to China for its consistent support and solidarity.
