Chinese National Granted Bail in Wounding Case Despite Complainant's Injuries

A Chinese national, Zhou Wenjie, accused of wounding and assault, was granted bail yesterday despite the alleged victim, Musa Baba Conteh, reportedly being unwell.

Wenjie appeared before Magistrate Sao Mamakoh Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3, facing charges under Sections 20 and 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

Court records indicate the incident allegedly occurred on Sunday, May 4, 2025, in Waterloo, where Wenjie is accused of maliciously injuring Conteh, causing him significant bodily harm. Wenjie entered a plea of not guilty when the charges were read.

Prosecutor ASP Kamara requested an adjournment due to the complainant's current health, which the court granted. The case has been adjourned to August 12, 2025, for a full hearing.

The court's decision to grant bail highlights the ongoing legal process in a case that has drawn public attention regarding violence and accountability.
