Clearing Work Begins on 83km Bumpe–Kono Road

Clearing operations have officially commenced along the 83-kilometre Bumpe–Kono Road in Kenema District,  a critical step toward improving regional infrastructure, connectivity, and local travel access.

The initial phase focuses on clearing vegetation, dense bush, and physical obstacles along the road corridor to prepare the route for full-scale rehabilitation. Teams of construction workers alongside heavy-duty machinery have been deployed to execute the earthworks and initial ground preparation.

Once completed, the rehabilitated corridor is set to deliver substantial socio-economic benefits. The upgraded route will streamline the transport of agricultural produce, accelerate commerce, and ease commute times for surrounding rural and urban communities.

Project managers have advised motorists, pedestrians, and nearby residents to exercise caution around active machinery and work zones. Local community members have expressed optimism regarding the project's progress as preparations move toward subsequent paving and construction phases.
