Court Adjourns Lansana Dumbuya Criminal Case to Allow Defence Preparation

The case involving Lansana Dumbuya, Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC), who is facing three criminal charges, was on Thursday further adjourned at Magistrate Court No. 1.

The adjournment was granted to allow the defence additional time to prepare and complete its legal submissions, particularly its no-case submission.

During the proceedings, the court was informed that the defence had requested an extra two weeks to strengthen its legal arguments. The request was made in the absence of lead defence counsel, with the second defence lawyer explaining that more time was needed to adequately prepare the case.

The prosecution, led by Yusif Issac Sesay, did not oppose the application for adjournment. However, the lead prosecutor expressed concern over repeated delays in the matter, noting that multiple adjournments had already prolonged the proceedings.

He urged the court to consider setting a clear timeline to ensure the case progresses without further unnecessary delay.

In his ruling, Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah considered submissions from both the prosecution and the defence before granting the request for adjournment.

The matter has now been rescheduled for further hearing on April 30, 2026.

The development marks another stage in the ongoing legal proceedings against the APC Secretary General, as the court continues to manage the pace of the case amid calls for a timely resolution.
