A woman has appeared before the Pademba Road Magistrate’s Court in Freetown on charges of possession and dealing in kush, a prohibited drug.
The accused, Marie Keita, a student, was arraigned before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Court No. 2 on three counts related to drug offenses.
According to the charge sheet, on Monday, October 27, 2025, at No. 4 White Stone, Congo Town, Makeni, in the Northern Province, Keita was allegedly found in possession of 200 wraps of kush and four black polythene bags containing loose quantities of the substance, all without lawful authority.
The prosecution further alleges that the accused dealt in and sold the prohibited drug on the same date and location.
When the charges were read, Keita did not take a plea because the matter is being heard by way of a preliminary investigation.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Isatu Baba Musa, prosecuting, requested a short adjournment to enable the prosecution to call its witnesses.
Defense counsel A.R. Gbla informed the court that they had received the relevant case documents and sought additional time to review them.
Magistrate Fornah refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Female Correctional Centre in Freetown. The case was adjourned to November 17, 2025.
