Sierra Leone and Liberia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cross-border security cooperation following high-level bilateral talks between their respective police chiefs in Bo City.

The security summit brought together Sierra Leone’s Inspector-General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, and Liberian Police Director Gregory W. Coleman. The meeting coincided with an official visit by Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

Key items on the agenda included joint strategies to combat transnational organized crime, boost real-time intelligence sharing, and address security threats along the shared frontier.

Both law enforcement heads underscored that professional collaboration between the Sierra Leone Police and the Liberia National Police remains essential for maintaining regional stability and responding to emerging threats.

During his visit, President Boakai commended IGP Sellu for his leadership in preserving law and order, noting the peaceful environment observed during his journey from the border to Bo City.

Given their geographic proximity, security officials emphasized that continuous inter-agency communication is vital to curbing cross-border criminal activity effectively.
