Cyber Analyst Testifies in $37,100 Medical Equipment Theft Case

A Cyber System Analyst from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters testified today regarding the alleged theft of a $37,100 Vivid IQ Echo medical machine.

Witness Ibrahim Sorie Kamara detailed critical digital evidence linking the defendants to the crime, including call records, text messages, and photographic evidence. Kamara testified that on February 2, 2026, he was tasked by Detective Superintendent P.K.S. MacMillan to extract data from electronic devices associated with the investigation.

This extraction included subscriber details, call history, and IMEI traces for three mobile numbers (072686227, 075550341, and 073093141), which were obtained from Orange Sierra Leone and the National Telecommunication Authority (NaTCA) and submitted as court exhibits.

Further analysis identified four Africell SIM numbers (088375303, 033801679, 077379221, and 080451478), two of which were traced to Moyamba. Kamara also testified that the first defendant, Abdul Jabba Mansaray, destroyed a Samsung Galaxy A15 but had captured photographs using a Techno Spark 20, which were subsequently printed and tendered to the court. 

Additionally, WhatsApp conversations, audio recordings, and chat transcripts extracted from the first defendant's devices were presented as evidence.

The prosecution has requested a future court date to play the audio recordings for the record.

When the charges were read, no plea was entered. Defence attorneys A.B. Sesay and C. Cambell adopted previous bail applications, but Magistrate John Manso Fornah denied the requests, citing the serious nature of the offences. 

The matter has been adjourned to July 27, 2026.
