Diamond Stars Boost Survival Hopes with Crucial Win Over Bullom Stars

Diamond Stars strengthened their bid to retain their top-flight status after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bullom Stars on Sunday, 31st May 2026.

The important win, achieved in front of their home supporters in Koidu City, earned Diamond Stars three valuable points and moved them further away from the relegation zone as the season enters a crucial stage.

Both sides approached the encounter with determination, knowing the significance of the result in their fight to maintain their positions in the league. The hosts enjoyed the better share of possession during the opening exchanges and created several scoring opportunities as they sought to capitalize on home advantage.

Their persistence was rewarded just before halftime when Samuel Penni broke the deadlock in the 44th minute. The forward rose highest inside the six-yard box to connect with a well-delivered cross from Daniel Yambie, powering a header into the roof of the net to give Diamond Stars a 1-0 lead heading into the break.

Bullom Stars responded positively after the restart, with both coaches making tactical substitutions before the hour mark in an effort to influence the outcome. The visitors pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but Diamond Stars remained disciplined in defence.

Goalkeeper Karim Fofanah played a decisive role in preserving the lead, producing a series of crucial saves to deny Bullom Stars and keep his side in front throughout the second half.

Despite mounting pressure in the closing stages, Diamond Stars maintained their composure and successfully protected their advantage until the final whistle.

Fofanah's impressive display between the posts earned him the Man of the Match award, capping a memorable afternoon for the Koidu-based side as they secured a victory that could prove significant in their battle against relegation.
