Electrician Remanded For Theft of Over Nle1M At Nightclub Office Break-In

A 22-year-old electrician, Nyakeh Toby, has been remanded in custody after making his first appearance before the court on allegations of breaking into an office and stealing over one million Leones, including foreign currency.
Toby appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1, where he was charged with breaking into an office and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, the accused allegedly committed the act between Friday, 13th February 2026, and Sunday, 15th March 2026, at the Royal Empire Night Club located at No. 19 Garrison Street in the Western Area of Freetown. Prosecutors allege that Toby broke into the office of the Chief Executive Officer with intent to steal.
The court further heard that the accused allegedly stole a total sum of one million two hundred and fifteen thousand Leones (Le1,215,000), comprising twenty-five thousand United States dollars (equivalent to Le600,000) and six hundred and fifteen thousand Leones (Le615,000), property of Ibrahim Kamara, popularly known as “TOP Man.”
When the charge was read and explained to him, Toby pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, C.S.P. Tommy B. Zizer, Esq., presented a bundle of statements to the accused as part of the prosecution’s case.
Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
The matter has been adjourned to April 2, 2026, for further proceedings.
