Entertainment Ambassador Appeals for Bail for Zainab Sheriff

The Office of the Ambassador of Entertainment has formally appealed to the judicial authorities to consider granting bail to prominent female entertainer Zainab Sheriff. Ms. Sheriff is currently undergoing legal proceedings related to allegations of making inciting statements at the Atouga Mini Stadium in Freetown on January 31, 2026.

In a public statement released on March 1, the Ambassador's Office confirmed that Ms. Sheriff has been denied bail on two separate occasions, and the matter has been adjourned for further hearing on March 4.

While unequivocally condemning any discourse that may incite unrest or compromise the peace and stability of Sierra Leone, the Ambassador of Entertainment, Amara Dennis Turay, underscored the fundamental importance of due process and the protection of constitutional rights.

"Justice must be rendered, and must demonstrably be seen to be rendered, with fairness, transparency, and without prejudice," the statement affirmed.

The Office acknowledged that while it does not condone rhetoric that could jeopardize public harmony, every citizen is entitled to impartial and humane treatment in accordance with the law.

Ms. Sheriff's appearances have been before Magistrate Brima Jah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1, where the applications for bail were unsuccessful. The case is scheduled to resume on March 4.

Furthermore, the Office strongly encouraged all entertainers and public figures to exercise a high degree of responsibility in their public discourse, remain mindful of their societal influence, and prioritize the safeguarding of national unity.
