Epic Radio Apologises Over Misleading High Court Post

Epic Radio 99.3 FM has issued a public clarification and apology after withdrawing a social media post about a High Court matter in Freetown, acknowledging that the wording used did not reflect the full context of the case and may have misled the public.
The post, published on Tuesday, 10 March, carried the caption:
“Breaking News: High Court in Freetown Sentences 24-Year-Old Woman to 11 Months in Prison After Pleading Guilty to Eating Food Without Paying.”
Epic Radio said the issue was brought to its attention following concerns raised by AI-Fisher Investment Limited.
“Following concerns raised by AI-Fisher Investment Limited, it has come to our attention that the wording of the post did not adequately reflect the full context of the matter before the court and may have led to misunderstanding among members of the public,” the station’s statement read.
After reviewing the post, Epic Radio promptly removed it from its platforms.
The radio station expressed regret for any confusion or inconvenience the publication may have caused to the court, the parties involved, the legal community, and the general public.
“Epic Radio 99.3 FM deeply regrets any confusion or inconvenience this publication may have caused,” the statement added.
The station also reiterated its commitment to accurate, balanced, and responsible journalism, noting that it continuously works to strengthen editorial processes to maintain high reporting standards.
Epic Radio concluded by extending a “sincere and unreserved apology” and reaffirmed its dedication to serving the public interest with integrity and professionalism.
