Escape Prisoner Sentenced to Five Years for Stealing Motorcycle in Freetown

Victor Koroma, 55, a driver, has been sentenced to five years in prison at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle valued at NLe 33,608.

The crime occurred on August 20, 2025, at #8 Jordan Drive, Lumley, in the Western Area, when Koroma took the property of Abu Marrah.

Koroma pleaded not guilty when the charge was read. However, after considering the prosecution’s evidence and his prior criminal record including an eight-year prison sentence for previous offenses and release following a prison break the court sentenced him to five years in prison.

Magistrate Sao Mamakoh Betty Kallon stated that, given the gravity of the offense and the defendant’s history, no alternative sentence was appropriate.
