Former DIG Sahr Yomba Senesi Honoured by Sierra Leone Police

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has honoured former Deputy Inspector-General of Police Sahr Yomba Senesi following his appointment as Chairman of the Advisory Council of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The appointment was made by President Rtd. Brig. Dr Julius Maada Bio and subsequently approved by Parliament. The SLP celebration was held at the Senior Officers’ Mess, Kingtom Barracks, where police leaders, personnel, stakeholders and invited guests gathered to recognise Senesi’s service and wish him well in his new national role.
Inspector-General of Police William Fayia Sellu congratulated Senesi and commended his contributions to the Force. He urged officers to uphold the unity, mutual respect and support demonstrated at the gathering by strengthening professional relationships and working together to advance the institution.
Speaking at the event, Senesi thanked God and President Bio for the appointment. He also acknowledged Sellu for recommending him, Internal Affairs Minister Morie Lengor, and Police Wives Association President Matilda Doris Sellu for their support.
Addressing officers, Senesi called for respect for leadership, diligence and professionalism. He cautioned against unhealthy competition for recognition, noting that institutional progress depends on discipline, cooperation and mutual respect. He also encouraged personnel to cultivate the habit of reading and remain committed to their duties, describing continuous learning and dedication as essential to improving professional standards.
Senesi expressed confidence in Sellu’s leadership, saying he believed the IGP was well placed to guide the SLP through a period of transformation. On behalf of his family, he thanked police leadership and personnel for their affection and support and urged officers to preserve unity within the Force.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the Police Wives Association, Matilda Doris Sellu congratulated Senesi and encouraged officers and their families to remain patient, observing that appointments come in God’s own time. She also thanked those who attended and conveyed appreciation on behalf of Senesi’s wife, who was unable to be present.
