Four Arrested: Community Action Foils Major Burglary at Office

A coordinated effort between the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and local residents has successfully thwarted an attempted armed burglary at an office located at No. 13 Bumbuna Road, Magburka.

During a press briefing at the Kingtom Police Officer’s Mess on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alieu Jalloh, Head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), confirmed the arrests of four suspects in connection with the crime. Jalloh commended the rapid response of the patrol officers and the vital intelligence provided by community members.

The attempted break-in occurred on August 23, 2026. Armed with dangerous implements, the suspects breached the barbed wire fencing and were attempting to force open the office doors to steal valuable assets.

However, the operation was cut short. A passing police patrol officer and vigilant local youths spotted the suspicious activity, raising an alarm as the suspects prepared to load stolen items into a waiting vehicle. A rapid response team arrived promptly on the scene, securing the area and apprehending the suspects.

The four individuals currently in custody have been identified as:

• Alimamy Kamara (the designated driver)

• Abdulai Barrie (33, a known offender with a history of larceny and obtaining money by false pretenses)

• Abdul Rahman Fofanah (alias "Uncle O," also a known offender)

• Hamuday Bangura

ACP Jalloh emphasized that this successful operation highlights the indispensable role of the Police Partnership Board and grassroots community vigilance in safeguarding national and humanitarian development assets.

"This collaborative effort underscores the critical importance of community engagement in crime prevention,"

Jalloh stated, reassuring the public of the SLP's ongoing commitment to proactive policing. The suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
