Four Confirmed Dead in Devastating Grafton Fire Incident

The WARD C Administration has officially confirmed that four people have died following a catastrophic fire that tore through the Grafton Community on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

The incident has left residents in deep shock, with the community now observing its third day of mourning as authorities intensify recovery operations and begin a full assessment of the damage caused by the blaze.

Immediately after the disaster, Chairman Kasho J. Holland Cole directed an emergency response intervention. In line with this directive, a high-level government delegation was swiftly deployed to the affected area to carry out what officials described as a “spot assessment” of the devastation on the ground.

According to authorities, the assessment exercise is focused on identifying the immediate needs of survivors, determining the scale of property destruction, and working closely with local leadership to coordinate and streamline ongoing relief efforts.

While investigations into the exact cause of the fire are still ongoing, the Council Administration has emphasized that emergency assistance remains a top priority. Data gathered from the field assessment is currently being used to guide the distribution of essential support, including food supplies, medical aid, and temporary shelter for displaced residents.

Preliminary information indicates that multiple homes and livelihoods were destroyed in the fire, leaving several families without shelter or basic necessities.

Authorities have called on residents to remain calm, vigilant, and fully cooperative as recovery teams continue clearing the site and delivering humanitarian assistance to those affected.

The Grafton fire is being described as one of the most severe recent disasters to hit the community, with officials pledging continued support as recovery and rebuilding efforts progress.
