Sierra Leone’s burgeoning weightlifting scene just got a massive boost as Francis Kondeh etched his name into the nation’s sporting history, clinching an unprecedented three bronze medals at the 2025 African Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championships.
This monumental achievement marks Sierra Leone’s inaugural podium finishes at the prestigious continental event, sending ripples of excitement throughout the West African nation.
Competing fiercely in the demanding 60kg category, Kondeh showcased remarkable strength and composure.
He successfully lifted an impressive 85kg in the Snatch and followed it up with a powerful 100kg in the Clean and Jerk.
These stellar performances secured him well-deserved bronze medals in both the Youth and Junior divisions, a testament to his dedication and raw talent.
