The Free Summer School Program, an initiative by Hon. Alice Kornya Sandy, Member of Parliament for Constituency 016, officially concluded today at Mano Junction. The program, which commenced on August 4, successfully engaged over 1,000 primary, junior, and senior secondary school pupils from across six learning centres.

With the dedicated support of 26 volunteer teachers, students received invaluable instruction in core subjects including mathematics, English, and science throughout the holiday period. The initiative aimed to ease the financial burden on parents and enhance academic performance within the constituency.

The colourful closing ceremony drew the attendance of traditional leaders, parents, and school authorities, all of whom lauded Hon. Sandy's commitment to education.

Town Chief Karjoi described the program as a "meaningful boost to education," while Section Chief Albert Sandy underscored the crucial role of traditional authorities in national development.

Yatta Kaifala, the women’s leader, encouraged young girls to prioritize their education, and Osman M. Karama, representing school principals, praised Hon. Sandy as "a symbol of good leadership."

In her keynote address, Hon. Sandy extended her gratitude to the teachers, parents, and community leaders for their unwavering support. She reiterated her strong commitment to President Julius Maada Bio’s Free Quality Education initiative and urged the participating pupils to make the most of the knowledge acquired.

The event culminated with the presentation of school bags, pens, pencils, and exercise books to the top-performing pupils in the National Primary School Examination, recognizing their academic achievements.

Observers widely view the summer school program as more than a charitable endeavor. It is considered a strategic investment in the educational future of the community and a prime example of grassroots leadership that effectively links political action with community empowerment.
