A local fitter has been remanded to the Male Correctional Centre after pleading guilty to malicious damage charges involving a Hyundai vehicle, legal authorities confirmed.


The defendant, Osman Mansaray, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1. During the proceedings, Mansaray entered a guilty plea to a single count of malicious damage, prosecuted under Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.


According to court records, the incident took place on September 21, 2026, along Kinghama Road in Freetown. The charge sheet indicates that Mansaray intentionally damaged several components of the vehicle, including the front windscreen, two front-door handle openers, and the right-side wing mirror.


The total property damage is assessed at Le14,400. The vehicle, bearing registration number AUS 965, belongs to Isaa Bangura and was under the care of Saidu Jalloh when the damage occurred.


Following the admission of guilt, Magistrate Jah ordered Mansaray remanded in custody pending record verification. The matter has been adjourned to October 2, 2026, for sentencing.


The prosecution is being led by Deputy Police Constable 182156 Linda Teh.
